College Guidance Program
JBBBSLA believes that higher education is a fundamental component of career readiness, personal development and financial stability. It is in that spirit that we are proud to offer our high school age mentees professional pre-college support through our College Guidance Program, in partnership with College Fit 360. This program will ensure that Littles are truly prepared to succeed in the college application process.
By the end of the program, students will have been given the following tools for success:
9th and 10th Grade
Students in 9th and 10th grade will be given access to a College Fit 360 Counselor who will help guide them throughout their high school career in preparation for the college application process their junior year. A webinar will also be made available to 10th grade students which will encompass test preparation, FAFSA and scholarship opportunities.
The one-on-one counseling sessions will cover:
- Getting the most out of high school including academic planning
- Extracurricular activity development
- How to obtain letters of recommendation
Students currently in 11th grade will be given access to College Fit 360 counselors, as well as access to multiple webinars. The counselor will give each student one-on-one guidance throughout the application and college acceptance process. (This will extend through their senior year.) The webinars will encompass:
- Essay writing (in-person workshop)
- Test preparation, FAFSA, and available scholarship opportunities
- Application assistance
Participants must be in active matches and matched with their Big for at least 1 year by the date of the program invitation in order to be considered.
Littles that go through this process may also be eligible for the JBBBSLA Scholarship.
